Prevue

In our endeavour to ‘approach recruitment in a fresh, personal way…’ we are constantly looking for additional ways to ADD VALUE to our service.

To this end we have recently introduced a very powerful tool to our recruitment process, called Prevue.

The Prevue Assessment (Prevue), is widely used for matching a candidate to a role, however it is equally valuable in retaining staff.

In this candidate short market, finding that ‘perfect’ person is challenging to say the least! This is where Prevue adds value to your selection process; it paints an accurate picture of how an individual’s personality, character and mental agility work together and how they manifest behaviourally in the workplace.

So when selecting the ‘best fit’ person, you are also aware of some of their peculiarities. You can then effectively and efficiently manage the successful candidate, getting them up and running as quickly as possible. It will also save the Line Manager a considerable amount of time ‘guesstimating’ how to get the best out of the person beyond those first few months. Most importantly, you will maximise your opportunity for retaining that person!

There are 3 elements that need to be matched in order for a person to perform well in a role. As indicated in the figure below, the ‘skills’ match ensures the person knows what they need to know to do the job i.e. they CAN do the job; the ‘culture’ match ensures that they WILL then apply themselves in your environment and the ‘behaviour’ match ensures they will DO what it takes to perform.

Prevue was published by View Assessments International Inc. (VAII), to provide businesses and human resource professionals with a suite of reports that reflect an individuals ‘behaviour’ and thus assists in human resource decision-making. The Prevue Questionnaire is based on the ICES Plus Assessment which measures work-related characteristics in three areas (i.e. 3 assessments in the one!); these being Cognitive (Abilities/Thinking style), Conative (Interests and Motivation) and Personality. It was developed exclusively for VAII by world-renowned psychometric experts, beginning in 1989 and released in 1993. The chief architect of Prevue was Professor David Bartram (a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and leading specialist in the field of psychometrics) head of the Department of Psychology at Hull University, UK.

The Prevue reports can be utilised in applications such as:

  • Change Management e.g. Promotion, Restructuring etc
  • Training
  • Succession Planning
  • Coaching
  • Communication Development
  • Performance Reviews
  • Career Development
